Our school's participation in Comenius Projects
Making Europe your Community
This school project with schools in Austria, Holland, Hungary and Italy started in September 2004 and is supposed to end in July 2007. It deals with the following aspects:
- National identity and common roots
- European citizenship incorporating national identity
- Challenges for the new Europe
Students are the main protagonists of the project. Themes and topics have been chosen dependent on the interests and suggestions made by the students themselves. The students prepare their work in both curricular and extracurricular classes guided and coached by the teachers involved.
The use of ICT is implicit in the project work. Both teachers and student communicate by electronic mail and the Internet is regularly used.
This project has the following aims:
- Crossing cultural and political borders within the European Union countries
- Awareness of one’s roots
- Reinforcing the concept of European citizenship in order to accept and share cultural differences
- Tackling the challenges in order to achieve a United Europe of people and not of nations
- The implementation of the European dimension amongst all the participants and other interested parties
Developing Digital Skills @ School
The school development project started in September 2005 and focuses on ICT. Teachers and pupils learn how to deal with the computer and its multiple resources. Their digital skills will be developed and they learn how to work with text and picture processing programmes. Our partner schools are from Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Spain and Sweden. A preparatory meeting was held from 27th Nov to 3rd Dec 2004 at IES Guaza in Arona/Tenerife (Spain).
